Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Feronyl Deepen Industrial Cooperation at BEDEX 2026
At the Brussels European Defense Exhibition & conference – BEDEX, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) and Feronyl signed a strategic Letter of Intent (LOI), marking a major milestone toward strengthening Europe’s defence industrial capabilities and deepening industrial cooperation in Belgium. The Letter of Intent establishes a shared commitment to explore long-term collaboration in the production and development of advanced defence systems, with a particular focus on air defence technologies within KDA’s portfolio — most notably the NASAMS, which Kongsberg is proposing as a cornerstone of Belgium’s future national air defence capability.
Protecting What Matters Most
As the geopolitical security environment evolves, Belgium faces an increasing need to strengthen its ability to protect critical national and allied infrastructure. From strategic seaports and major airports to energy hubs and the headquarters of NATO, Belgium sits at the heart of Europe’s security architecture.
Developing a robust and modern air defence capability is therefore becoming a strategic priority. Beyond protecting vital infrastructure, such capability would also stimulate a powerful industrial ecosystem — supporting technological leadership, resilient supply chains, and highly skilled jobs across Belgium and Europe.
NASAMS: A Proven Shield for Modern Air Defence
Developed by Kongsberg in cooperation with international partners, NASAMS is one of the world’smost advanced and combat-proven air defence systems. Deployed by more than a dozen allied nations and continuously upgraded to address evolving threats, the system provides highly flexible, networkenabled protection against a wide spectrum of airborne threats.
With its scalable architecture and proven interoperability within NATO networks, NASAMS represents a powerful and future-ready solution capable of protecting Belgium’s critical infrastructure and contributing to collective European security.
A Partnership for European Defence Resilience
This LOI reflects the shared ambition of both companies to build a resilient, high-value defence production ecosystem on Belgian and European soil. By combining technological excellence with industrial capacity, the partnership aims to support NATO’s collective defence objectives while reinforcing Belgium’s strategic autonomy. Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Feronyl look forward to working closely with Belgian authorities and industry stakeholders to transform this strategic intent into a long-term industrial partnership that will contribute to the security and resilience of Europe for decades to come.
Feronyl: A Strategic Backbone of Belgium’s Defence Industry
Feronyl plays a key role in strengthening the Belgian and European defence industrial base. The company specialises in advanced mechanical systems and in securing strategic supply chains across a broad range of high-performance materials, including polymers, composites, precision-machined metals up to 2,600mm, metallic alloys, and advanced ceramics such as ceramic matrix composites (CMC). Through its industrial expertise and its commitment to European defence manufacturing, Feronyl aims to anchor high-value production and technological know-how within Belgium.
"Feronyl is proud to contribute to Belgium’s defence industrial sovereignty. Partnering with Kongsberg, a global leader in defence technology, allows us to combine world-class innovation with strong local industrial capabilities, ensuring that strategic defence technologies are developed and produced in Europe" - Bruno DEDECKER CEO
